More Space!

Anybody ever read that book, "My Petition for More Space"?  This is how I was feeling as I methodically planned for a larger garden area.

So I expanded the fenced yard in an effort to increase the food production for next year.
I give you ~ the new entrance!

Basically this is the same funky structure I was using before, but now adorned with the bamboo.  Behind this area is the new garden space, previously the parking space.  I opted to walk farther to the house in order to grow more food!

In the beginning it looked like this.

Your basic driveway.
The next step was to set the boundary and put in some posts.

After removing the old fencing and moving it in to the new space I was quite pleased with the added space!

Here's a view from the house (below).

Of course there is much work to be done between now and next years growing season.  I will install raised beds and possibly a small greenhouse.  That border bed of flowers will be moved to open up the space.

So, once again, here is the main entrance.

Zen Yard Art

Here's a quick little project to add dimension to your hang out.
Simply drill holes in a choice piece of driftwood the size of your rebar.  Place two pieces of rebar in the ground securely (measure the correct distance the rebar should be from one another) then just attach the driftwood.

This new piece of yard art is approximately 5 feet long and about two feet high.

Odds & Ends

Playing with t-shirt scraps today and came up with this.

The hat band is made from the bottom hems of three t-shirts!  I just braided them and put them on this cute hat.

Recycling and re-purposing.  Good for garden wear.

More Scarfing...

OK, carrying on with the up-cycling theme.  This double project came from two white cotton t-shirts.
The neck scarf (worn by our wicker model) is an infinity scarf that is longer and narrower than the first one I made, it wraps four times.  This scarf is for my friend Mira, who is donating a load of clothing and fabric to me!  (My pledge to all donators btw!)

The headband / scarf is my little creation for working out in the yard... probably the hummingbirds will love it!
Both are dyed Deep Purple.

And pictured here is Mira wearing her new scarf!
